Meet our Leaders

Pastor Tony Lomenzo

Tony grew up locally in Fort Ann, NY. He didn’t grow up in church but thankfully was introduced to Jesus Christ when he was twenty one years old. Although he grew up fearing God, his relationship was not right with Him. Fortunately, God brought a young lady, named April Rathbun, into his life who shared the Good News about Jesus with him; she later became his wife! One evening in February of 1994, after spending several weeks reading his Bible and listening to April share, he prayed and asked Jesus to come into his heart and forgive him of his sins. From that point forward his life was changed forever!

Tony and April met while serving together on the Fort Ann Rescue Squad. They have two children. Tony spent 14 years working as a Correction Officer before being called into pastoral ministry. Tony and his family enjoy spending time together, hiking, hunting, and riding snowmobiles.

Special Bible verse
Philippians 4:13 (life verse) – I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Mathew 28:19-20 (ministry verse) – Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Sydney Rayder

My name is Sydney, and I’ve lived in Stony Creek my whole life. I was fortunate to have parents who were born-again believers, and at the age of 3, my dad shared the plan of salvation with me. As a 3 year old, the only part I understood was that I am “bad”, but God still loves me, and sent his Son who was “good” to die for me. So on the living room floor of my first home on Warrensburg road, I prayed to repent of my toddler sins and told Jesus I believed in Him and wanted Him in my heart. I grew up in church, learning about this “good” Man that saved me. When I was around 11 years old, I picked up a guitar for the first time and fell in love. The Lord grew me in music and used that gift to draw me to Him and to develop a passion for leading music and praising Him. When my family decided after 7 years to leave our home church, I was distraught. I was 15, and I lost my desire to serve the Lord. We bounced churches for a few years, and landed at Stony Creek Community Church. My heart was far from the Lord, I was a senior in High School and wanted nothing to do with church or God. I rebelled. I lived for myself. It wasn’t until attending the Word of Life Bible Institute in 2015 that I realized what a sinner I was, and what a selfless act of love was demonstrated at the Cross. I had heard the gospel hundreds of times during my youth, I even understood it as a 3 year old enough to receive Christ, but I had never appreciated that gift. Spending every day in the Word, worshipping with fellow believers, developing a prayer life, evangelizing.. All these disciplines that I exercised at Word of Life pushed me to want to serve God with my life. I had been serving as the worship leader at Stony Creek Community Church, but my heart was not in it. After my year at the BI, I developed a true appreciation for the grace of God, and wanted desperately to share my joy. Leading worship was one of the ways I could do that. I have now been serving as the worship leader at this church for almost 4 years. I also have worked full time in the Emergency Room at Glens Falls Hospital for 2 years. There I get to try my best to be a living example of the Gospel to not only my coworkers, but to the patients I help take care of every day. Over the winter of 2017 into 2018, I felt the Lord calling me to serve in more ways at my church. I began praying and eventually the Lord opened up a position of a youth ministries leader. After praying and asking God for direction, I took the position in May of 2018. Since taking the position, I have seen the Lord grow me in so many areas. I am so thankful for God’s provision and His unending love. He has blessed me richly.
